went o auto zone and the odbII scaner gave me p1590, i erased the code via the scaner but each time i cannot get the lights in the truck to go off. are there any tricks?

it's the traction control light, abs light, brake light, and the down hill decent light.

Interestlingly enough, I have that same set of lights lit up on mine. Luckily, i live just a few miles from Frank and Tony's shop and I am due for a minor service anyway. Brakes seem to be working fine but the lights are annoying...

A regular hand held OBD2 scanner can't clear an ABS fault or the light, that has to be done with a test book or autologic scanner.

where could i but this autologic scanner?

does anyone have a picture of it so i know i've found it?

i checked out some other forums and what i see it 2 issues, the abs sensor could have moved or gotten dirty, i will check it out today. the other issue to the 3 amigos is the speed sensor witch has been a commom problem for most, and is a simple fix to just tighten it up. my questions is where is the speed sensor????

Was this problem ever resolved? If so, what was the cause? I am looking to do my brakes and I want to know everything I need to know.

It is easier to replace the pads if you do not remove the caliper. Just remove the front bolt, loosen the back bolt, rotate the caliper over and remove the pads. Make sure you have loosened the cap to the brake fluid reservoir because the new pads will push the fluid level back up. I never saw a need to bleed the brakes but it does not hurt to do so.

If you are bending the wrench, either the last mechanic or you have put the lugs on WAY too tight. The correct torque is 103 lb-ft or 140 newton-meters (depending on how your torque wrench is marked); if you are using an extension on the wrench, the adjustment for the extension should be marked on the extension itself . The extension changes the fulcrum point, and multiplies the torque; for example, my 6-in extension multiplies the applied torque of the arm by 1.18, or an 18% increase; I torque the wheel nuts to 87 lb-feet on the wrench, and that gives me 103 lb-ft at the lug.

It sounds like a lot, but it is actually only hand-tight plus about half-a-turn!

Make sure to check them after about 40km or so.

Next time you need to get them off, they'll come off with very little effort, and proper torque can also make the rotors last longer, since the won't be deformed by being squished between the wheel and the hub...
