Anyone with exp owning used RV particularly 84 Fleetwood Southwind 28ft RV

Ok, I found a RVer willing to trade for one of my trucks. It's a 1984 28 foot Fleetwood Southwind Motorhome - see pic.

The one I saw in Aptos was not for me!

As some of you know, I have either one of my trucks for trade: http://www.lrrforums.com/showthread.php?t=4357

Anyways, found this 84 Fleetwood Southwind for trade; seems to be in better mech condition, but need to do my due deligence:
    - waiting for vin # from owner
    - scheduled to see it this week

I've been reading about buying used RVs and all indicates to check out LPG gas, generator, pipes, roof and especially engine among others. Anyone with exerience buying used RVs especially 1984 Fleetwood Southwind 28ft RV. What should I be checking?

    Per owner, it has:
    - 70k miles (used lightly all these years)
    - Will confirm w/receitps - per owner, spent $6500 recently to rebuilt rear axle, new tires and brakes all around; also tune-up worth $1200.
    - New battery
    - And replaced all water piping and regulator!
    - Chevy 454 engine & hitch; will see if it can pull the CT110 or D1.

Also anyone had their RV re-painted? Sounds like a costly proposition!

Looking at the picture, probably will remove the carpet when it's worn out by kids and put linoleum; change curtains for sure! Sounds like a project to keep me busy!

Seller realize (much like I do) - we can't get our money back in resale on what we've put in our vehicles over the years e.g. mods, repairs to the general public; trade for trade is a good match!

However, still want to do my homework!

    Appreciate comments/suggestions! Thx in advance!

    1) 454 towing the CT110 is iffy, D1 more likely.
    2) the death of any RV is moisture, check for evidence of roof leaks. everything else coach wise is replaceable from Camping World

    check out these for comparison

I moved my visit to see the RV till next week; seller didn't mind; will be @ Pismo!

Good points and things to think about during my 4hr drive from SFO to Pismo; thx again for info especially the rv trade link.

Joe, those are all the particulars! Thanks for asking your buddy!

I also found out the following:
    - Registration fee is $84/yr
