ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH SHIPP ISSUES BRINGING IN LRs INTO CA FROM OUT OF THE COUNTRY

    It finally happened.

I have secured purchase on 2 LRs coming from Peru in South America. The agent I am inquiring with states about $2K in fees per car. Anyone know any issues with US Customs here ?

I understand that they have to be PRE-1994, in stock, ORIGINAL Condition. Both are:

    Veh.# 1: 1968 LR 109 with the 4 Cyl Perkins gas motor and a 4 spd

    Veh.# 2 : 1987 LR 110 Defender with 3.5L single carb motor and a 5 spd

    Both with Peru titles.

    Any input appreciated.
    Thanks

    Lou

    Nice,
    AFAIK for EPA 25 y.o. +
for CARB either smog compl. for the year or pre 1979 for diesel (not your case)
Are you planning on registering here as well?
Not sure what kind of hell DMV will ask you to go through...

That's what I figured. Since both are over 25 years old, that block is checked.

As far as the 1968, no. I am going to sell it ( frankly, I think the sale of the 109 will likely pay for both).

As far as the 110....well, I will try. Worse case I will register it in NV at my friends' place. Worse case scenario from what I've read, there is the $5500 " lab report " BS for the state of CA to certify it. What a crock.

Very cool. I have always been interested in the late 60's 109. Good luck with the import. I will be interested to hear your experience. Got any pictures of the ones you found?
