You should have a little read out screen located under the passenger seat for the ODBI codes.

The diagnostic plug for a Lucas EMS engine is located beneath the glove box, BUT, code readers are few, far between and expensive.

    maybe.....??

I am not certain about the 95's, but all after the first of jan. 1996 should have the standard OBD-II plug, and be easily diagnosed with an inexpensive reader. Most vehicles started using this plug in 95?!?!

I bought my reader on e-bay for 39 bucks, and it reads all codes, turns off CEL, informs me of potential codes to come, and even streams live data for about 50 different data points.....Trottle position, cam angle, temp, O2 resistance, the list goes on and on.

There are loads of these on e-bay. BTW, my truck is a 1998 with a newly replaced engine, so I have had plenty of analysis practice finding problems with it.

X you're my hero. Running on 6 cylinders sucks, truck was throwing a P0300, P0305, P1316, and a P1319P. Looks like multiple misfires for me, which I'm 99% positive is due to faulty plug wires, when it started throwing codes I looked for something obvious under the hood and caught a couple arcs (picked up the wire to move it away from the valve cover and patch with electrical tape and got zapped). Looks like tomarrow I just need to install my new wires and re-check for codes. Not too woried about the emissions one, as I think it's triggered by 2 misfires in 1 bank causeing the o2 sensors to read it running too rich, so fixing the misfires ought to clear that up, and I have new cats and o2s worked into the November budget.
If you can't fix it with a hammer, then you have an electrical problem.

My truck has been missing for some time now

each I get the codes read

    it's always

    P0307

    and

    P1316.

hopefully this major engine flush/seafoam/oil change I'm about to do will help clear it up.
