Can you turn off the automatic steering wheel retract???

I have a 2005 RR, and have seen where the steering wheel position motor has had a poor history for Jamming and the like. I was wondering, does anyone know of a way to prevent the steering wheel from moving back all the way into the dash when you remove the key? I had another vehicle that did this, but there was a button on the dash that could defeat it - but still allowed for adjustment.

    Thanks.

the column is not replaced. (recall B028) a spacer is installed to prevent over extension when tilting the column. it has nothing to do with the telescopic finction. although you can turn it off using a T4 test book from your local LR dealer
